BENEFITING: Crohn's & Colitis Foundation
ORGANIZER: Crohns Colitis
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
Hi! May name is Carey McKelvey.
In 2013 through series of dramatic events I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Because of the disease my small bowel perforated, requiring lifesaving surgery. In 2014 I ran my first long distance race with my wife Katherine and I've been running ever since.
This will be our first full marathon ever and I'm so excited to raise money to find a cure for IBD along with putting my running shoes to good use!
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Over 1.6 million Americans are directly impacted by these debilitating diseases. CCFA exists to fund cutting edge research, provide support services and to overall improve the quality of life of those living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
The dollars you raise as a CCFA Team Challenge participant through the Pittsburgh Marathon go directly to the local chapter and help CCFA with its mission. We encourage you to learn more, fundraise and join us!
