EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
Family and Friends,
As many of you know, I have been battling Crohn's Disease since 2000, when I was diagnosed during my sophomore year of college.
This diease, and more specifically my ileostomy, is a part of who I am and I believe that openess and education are important to finding a cure! That is why this year, more than ever, I am dedicating my time and energy to raising money for two causes that are important to me.
In May, I will be running in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon as a charity runner for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) Team Challenge. Since my latest surgery, I have discovered running as a way to cope with the physical challenges of Crohn's Disease and as a reminder that I will not let this disease bring me down! Since May 2014, I have completed a total of 24 races, including a half marathon, two sprint triathlons, and an olympic triathlon.
This July, I will also be traveling to San Diego State University for my third summer at Youth Rally, a 5-night camp for kids and teens living with conditions of the bowel and bladder. As a volunteer, it is my responsibility to pay my own registration and travel expenses. Anything I raise above my goal will go towards helping to send kids to camp.
Please join me in supporting CCFA and/or the Youth Rally. Both causes are very important to me and I appreciate your help in finding a cure for digestive diseases and supporting children and teens are are suffering from them.
