What do you know about China, southeast Asia, and eastern civilization and culture in general? If you're like most Americans, the answer is probably not much. That's the answer my roomates and I have. As we've been approaching our graduation this April, we've been contemplating what post-graduation learning experience could be most valuable to us in the future, and we realized that with the shifting global economy and the rise of China as a global superpower, the most valuable post-graduation learning we can have is to go experience eastern culture and to have a better understanding of the world around us. In late April, 2011, we will be embarking on a journey across China, starting in the commercial hub of Hong Kong, through the vast country side and cities in between, and ending in the cultural center of Beijing - a 2,400 mile journey. Along the way, we will interview local people, visit significant cultural and economic sites, and soak in all the information we can in a three week time span. We will film our adventures and compile them as a documentary. We are seeking to raise $8,000 for the three of us to go. As a token of our appreciation for any donation you can make, we will send you a copy of our trip documentary, so that you too can experience the wonder that is China.
