BENEFITING: Boston Medical Center
Jim and I are honored to once again raise money for Boston Medical Center! We are fundraising for the benefit of BMC's CATALYST Clinic.
The Center for Addiction Treatment for AdoLescents/Young adults who use SubsTances, or the CATALYST Clinic, provides patient-centered, efficient, and flexible care to those individuals under age 24 who use substances ranging from experimental use to addiction. CATALYST Clinic's objective is to treat patients who have just begun to use substances with the hope of preventing addiction, as well as patients who have already developed a substance use disorder.
Substance use disorders continue to be a leading cause of morbidity in the United States, resulting in an estimated $416.5 billion annually in healthcare, crime, traffic crashes, and loss of productivity. Youth, many of whom are particularly susceptible to the risks associated with using substances, have few options in terms of outpatient treatment as there are limited substance use disorder treatment facilities equipped to meet their unique needs.
We believe that adolescents who use substances are a uniquely vulnerable population who require developmentally appropriate substance use treatment services.
