Crossroad is more than good medical care. It’s love, prayers and support. Read Angela's story, and understand why our fundraising efforts never stop. Because our patients are often sicker, and struggle with so many challenges in their lives, the true costs of their care are not covered fully by Medicaid or insurance.
When Angela took her 10-month-old daughter to a crack house to buy heroin, she knew she had hit rock bottom. It wasn’t long after that life-altering moment that she turned her back on her old life and gave up drugs for good.
It hasn’t been easy. But with support and prayers from the staff at Crossroad Health Center, along with her own determination to get clean, Angela has turned her life around. When her son was born – exactly one year after she became sober – she was struggling and in danger of relapse. She confided in her children’s pediatrician at Crossroad. Her doctor made sure the baby returned frequently for weight checks, and urged Angela to return to her Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
Today, Angela is doing well, with no relapses. While she has worked hard to sustain her sobriety, she also credits Crossroad’s compassionate care for her success. “My children’s doctor is amazing. She believes in me and is cheering me on. She has helped me so much – I just love her.”
Help us continue to provide a medical home to patients like Angela and her children. Your support allows us to provide high-quality primary health care services to more than 10,000 low-income and uninsured children and adults across our community. While Crossroad follows a faith-based Christian mission, we are not affiliated with any church.
