BENEFITING: Diamond Willow Ministries
The Crow Creek Sioux Reservation in Crow Creek, SD is the poorest community in the United States. Not surprisingly, it also has the highest suicide rate of anywhere in the nation. Drug/alcohol addiction, physical/sexual/mental abuse, teenage pregnancy, jail time, disease, poverty are all considered "typical" life for residents of Crow Creek. Hopelessness and dispair are evident everywhere you look.
A team of 5 men and women are traveling to Crow Creek on July 26 - Aug 5, 2013 to team with the local nonprofit organization Diamond Willow Ministries. We will be bringing hope, respect and love to a forgot people that live right here in the midst of the US. We are not going to give hand outs but to create long term relationships and build trust. We will be repairing a local home that was damaged by fire, visiting forgotten elderly in a senior home, passing out backpacks and school supplies at the local school, visiting local residents at their homes to pass out a few food items and prayer if desired.
We need to raise the funds for all of our travel expenses as well as the construction materials, school supplies, toiletries, etc that will be utilized to create opportunities for relationship building.
