BENEFITING: GOLF FIGHTS CANCER
EVENT DATE: Sep 17, 2017
Friends & Family,
On September 17th, we will be competing in the 41st Annual Josh Billings Triathlon in memory of our close friend Davey Hovey.
About a year and half ago, at 25 years old, Davey was diagnosed with stage four Glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancer that starts in the brain and despite maximum treatment, usually returns. Davey endured five surgeries and four different types treatment while facing a reality none of us will ever be able to understand until we face it ourselves. A realty that would break many but only seemed to raise him up.
It was as if he was in this elevated state of flow day in and day out, bringing a smile to just about every person around him, never taking things to seriously, and always focusing on the good. He had a rare ability to notice what he was already apart of...to just appreciate being here and share it with those he loved.
The world will always guide us into the unknown but it's a place we learn to love; a place that, despite its uncertainty, always gives us answers. This is where Davey belonged. Rooted in his desire to experience, escape, succeed and discover what he was truly capable of. After he was diagnosed, he took to the golf course, playing in a 100-hole tournament and raising over $130,000 for Glioblastoma research. He never gave up on his personal fight and was determined to help others with theirs.
Over the past couple months, the Crus11Tour team has raised over $400,000 in Davey's honor and there is no end in site. So if you have a moment, please donate what you can to our fight against cancer.
