BENEFITING: SOME, Inc. dba, So Others Might Eat
This year, at the Baltimore Dance Crews Project's 2nd Annual Urban Dance Concert, all participating group are asked to partner with a local non-profit and assist in online charitable fundraising. There are 11 amazing teams performing at this year's show. Our goal, as a united dance community, is to raise $2500 for local charities.
The Culture Shock DC Freestyle Team has selected SOME as their local charity.
SOME stands for So Others May Eat and they have served Washington DC for 44 years. SOME strives to:
- Feed and clothe DC’s homeless and poor
- Treat ill, homeless people at our medical, dental and mental health programs
- Train people for jobs and house homeless families and single adults
Over the years, SOME has helped thousands of people get off the streets, transform their lives, and live independently.
The Culture Shock DC Freestyle Team started getting involved with SOME in 2013, where they helped create a youth dance program aimed towards elementary school aged kids. Through regular classes working up towards a performance at Culture Shock's annual Youth Showcase, they were able to reinforce lessons of confidence, self-expression, hard work, and determination.
The Culture Shock DC Freestyle Team hopes to raise $250 for SOME by May 17th.
