When you give to Community Support Services, you are helping individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families like Zenny and Brianna.
Zenny’s daughter, Brianna, is diagnosed with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome -- a chromosomal defect that has rendered her nonverbal and unable to move on her own. Click on the video on your left to see their story.
Although Brianna is 20 years old, socially and mentally, she interacts as if she is just one and a half years old.
The struggle to communicate with Brianna has been difficult for Zenny and she confides that sometimes it makes parenting particularly difficult. The stress has led to many tearful nights and sometimes she feels overwhelmed.
When the staff at CSS met Zenny, they knew she was a candidate for Respite Services. Respite provides Zenny with short, planned periods of relief each week – exactly what she needs to take care of herself, do the grocery shopping and other things that most of us take for granted.
Your compassionate gift provides Respite Services and a broad array of other supportive services to more than 791 individuals and their families each year. A gift of $100 will provide one evening of care for a family like Zenny’s.
Remember to share this opportunity with friends, family or co-workers who would like to make a difference too. On behalf of Zenny’s family, thank you in advance for your help!
