BENEFITING: UNITED WAY OF CONNECTICUT
EVENT DATE: Dec 02, 2014
35% of Connecticut families are walking a financial tightrope, working hard and yet struggling to pay bills, put food on the table, and afford the basics. Many of these families are ALICE--a United Way acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
This #GivingTuesday we ask you to remember ALICE when you are making your holiday list, and give to United Way--a gift that will benefit the lives of ALICE families in your community.
We all know ALICE. ALICE families have household incomes above the Federal Poverty Level, but below a basic cost-of-living threshold. ALICE may be your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues, and represents every race, ethnicity and gender.
ALICE lives in every city and town in Connecticut, doing important work as a nursing assistant, childcare worker, home health aide, car mechanic, security guard, teaching assistant, store clerk, and office assistant – work that is essential to the well-being of our communities, but that often does not pay enough for hard-working families to get ahead.
United Way is here to help all families, and we can do more with your help. This #GivingTuesday, your contribution to United Way will help us make a significant difference for ALICE and your community.

About the ALICE Report
The Connecticut ALICE Report shines a light on the challenges facing people who play a vital role in preserving our state’s overall social and economic well-being. The Report provides a framework that goes beyond the data and demographics that quantify ALICE households, and allows us to meaningfully discuss solutions that make it easier for ALICE to get by and get ahead.
