Why run 50 miles?
Why do you have icicles on your beard?
Great questions! And I will answer with a question: How often in life do we have the opportunity to inspire ourselves? That's why I'm running 50 miles, and that's how I got those amazing beardcicles, from a freezing snowy long run! I am pushing my physical limits, putting myself into an unknown challenge that is personally, well... inspiring.
I am inspired to set a goal. A goal of really seeing what my body is capable of by racing 50 miles. A goal of raising $2,500 for the 65% of third graders in Greater Boston who aren't reading proficiently. A goal of ensuring more caring older adults can serve as mentors and reading coaches to these children. This is a very personal goal(s) and one that can fulfill a soul.
The energy gained in preparing, training, and ultimately reaching the 50 mile mark will not only make me immensely fatigued, but it will add meaning and purpose to what I do, and benefit children and older adults in Boston. It will inspire me.
