BENEFITING: Cure JM Foundation
ORGANIZER: Cure JM Foundation
EVENT: Austin Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: Feb 19, 2017
Team Cure JM is running in the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon to raise funds for Juvenile Myositis research. I am running the half marathon in support of my daughter Morgan. She has been sick since 2008 and there is no end in sight. She still gets monthly infusions and has had several rounds of Rituxan in the hopes that we can find something to put her dermatomyositis/lupus/Sjogrens at bay. We are living proof that things happen in threes.
I have not trained for this event, but I will gut through. Morgan guts through every day trying to live a normal life. I can gut through however long it takes me to finish the half marathon. My hope is that you will support me in this run. It will help more than you know. This disease has taken so much from Morgan, but on this day on this weekend, we will celebrate her life and celebrate my ability to finish 13.2 miles. Please join me in this celebration!
Juvenile Myositis (JM) is a life-threatening disease that causes a child's own immune system to attack healthy tissue and cells. It can cause pain, weakness, inability to walk, disfigurement, organ failure and even lead to death. Juvenile Myositis can affect virtually any system of the body, the heart, lungs, skin, muscles, and more.
And there is no cure…YET. But that's where you come in.
Make a gift or join our team now and help make a brighter future for the kids fighting Juvenile Myositis.
