EVENT: San Francisco Marathon 2011
EVENT DATE: Jul 31, 2011
As many of you know, Susan Brown (Brian's mom) was diagnosed at a very young age with Alzheimer's. Susan was 57 when the doctor's told the family that she would no longer be able to drive and she would need to start medication to slow the progression of the disease. The family knew at that moment that this would be a life changing event. She continued to smile and laugh over the next 9 years not knowing that her brain was being overruled by this terrible disease. Despite medication, she quickly became where she no longer able to recognized many of her 10 grandchildren, family or friends.
Her highschool sweetheart and husband of 48 years (Johnny) stayed by her side as she became disabled and needed total care. In October 2009, at a young age of 66, Susan was defeated by Alzheimer's and was finally able to rest.
Brian and I will be running a full marathon of 26.2 miles in San Francisco on July 31, 2011 in her honor. Susan fought a valiant fight and we want to give back by raising money for the Alzheimer's Association. Please donate to show your love and support and to help find a cure for this horrible disease.
