On March 26, 2014, Shawn Thornton and many of his Boston Bruins teammates will have their heads shaved onstage at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel by auction winners, to raise money for children battling cancer. In its first three years as a Cuts for a Cause beneficiary, Floating Hospital has received more than $150,000 in much-needed philanthropy for the Child Life program.
In a bit of a twist, this year I've decided to offer up my own hair for the cause. For those of you that don’t know, this isn’t an easy thing for me to do. The last time I shaved my head was for college hockey initiation! So I think this deserves a lot of support and that’s where you come in. My goal is to raise $5,000 by next Wednesday, March 26, and I will shave my head onstage at Cuts for a Cause.
I hope you will consider making a gift. Not only are we showing our support for those who don’t have a choice about losing their hair, but we are raising funds to support the care of our very own pediatric cancer patients.
