THE CARTER BURDEN CENTER FOR THE AGING INC wrote -
Maegan McAdam, NYC attorney and marathoner, will run the Chicago Marathon to raise support for the C. V. Starr Program of the Carter Burden Center for the Aging.
Why C.V. Starr? C.V. Starr serves older adults suffering from the early stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease and their families. An adult day program, open 5 days a week in East Harlem, it gives life- and time-saving respite to caregivers while providing socialization and stimulation for their loved ones, many of whom are of low- or modest-income.
Often lonely and isolated, seniors suffering from these diseases thrive in a full day of therapeutic and recreational programming which includes: exercise, creative arts therapies (music and art), horticulture, discussion and reminiscence groups; arts and crafts; special events and trips; and intergenerational activities with trained junior high students from Sweet Readers. Two meals, snacks and door-to-door transportation are all provided.
Maegan McAdam has joined forces with the Carter Burden Associates Council – a group of young NYC professionals who volunteer their time and talent for the Carter Burden Center for the Aging – to raise money for C.V. Starr’s quality programming and staffing. She is running the Chicago marathon on October 11, 2015 for this amazing program!
This will be Maegan's seventh race as part of her 100 city challenge - Maegan hopes to run 100 half/full marathons or half/full ironman races in 100 different cities across the globe. So far she has hit the pavement in Philly, D.C., New York, San Diego, Houston and Nashville, and has plans for the Chattanooga half ironman in May 2016 and the Berlin marathon in September 2016. She couldn't be more excited to add to this impressive goal, the purpose of raising money for an important cause!
Please donate now so that we can reach our goal of $10,000.
* Monies raised cover the cost of Maegan's admission fee as well as costs attributed to the CBC Associates Council.
