BENEFITING: Swim Across America, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Sep 22, 2013
I am kicking off my fundraising for Swim Across America to raise money for the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. I swam in the pool swim last year to raise money in honor of a friend's daughter who, at the tender age of four, went through radiation and chemotherapy to tackle a brain tumor. She is still in remission and this year will be joining our team to raise money and awareness for the Kimmel Cancer Center.
Last year, I took on the challenge to make a mile swim freestyle. I am proud to say that not only did I complete the swim, but I was the second highest fund raiser and our team was the top fund-raising team in the pool swim!
I have decided to up my game this year by swimming one mile in the open water in the Magothy River and I am asking if you would join me by supporting my swim. Donations through this event have led to the creation of the Swim Across America Laboratory where ongoing genomic studies provide important knowledge in the fight against cancer.
