BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Dec 28, 2013
This January, I am heading to Ghana to work with an amazing non-profit, called Community Water Solutions. This organization partners with rural communities in Ghana to help build water treatment centers and establish sustainable clean water businesses for the communities. These businesses use local and affordable technologies for the treatment, distribution and storage of safe and clean drinking water. As a Fellow, I will be helping to implement a CWS water business in a new village, which will be run by the local women of the community. The revenue from the sale of drinking water helps to fund the maintenance of these businesses, while fundraising generates the capital needed for creating the businesses.
In Ghana, as in many parts of Africa, there is a severe water crisis and thousands of people lack the basic necessities that many of us take for granted. CWS has been incredibly successful at combatting this issue and all of their businesses that have been implemented continue to provide safe, clean drinking water to the communities. I am very excited for this experience and the opportunity to be a part of creating a locally based solution to such an important issue.
Before I embark on this journey, I must raise $3,000 for the supplies necessary to build and implement (from the ground up) the sustainable water treatment systems that CWS promotes. All of the money I raise will go directly to the water treatment project my team is responsible for. Tax deductible donations can be made by writing a check to Community Water Solutions (with my name in the “memo” line), and sent to this address:
Community Water Solutions
46 Ledgetree Rd.
Medfield, MA 02052
or via credit card on my fundraising website,
The funds raised will allow us to secure all the necessary supplies, spread awareness about the global water crisis, and the CWS’s mission. Everything makes a difference and I am so thankful for any help with this endeavor!
Please, if you have any questions about the organization or the project, do not hesitate to contact me.
