“Got water? Ghana doesn’t”. I was recently accepted to Community Water Solutions' Winter Fellowship program, where I and three other fellows (teammates) will be traveling to Tamale, Ghana to implement a sustainable water treatment system in a local village. Community Water Solutions (CWS), a nonprofit organization, is working in Ghana to combat the current water crisis. Half of Ghana’s population does not have access to an improved drinking water source. A five minute shower in America uses more water than most people in Ghana use in a single day. Each year, four million people die due to some preventable water disease. With CWS, we will be implementing a sustainable drinking water treatment business that will provide a permanent safe drinking water source for 700-1000 people.
Every one of the 55 water treatment businesses set up by CWS are still in operation and are providing a clean, safe, sustainable drinking water source for over 31,800 people in Ghana, not only to sustain the water business, but to make a small profit to the men and woman that run the business.
Community Water Solutions is effectively fixing the water crisis in Ghana, and I am very excited to get this opportunity to provide clean water for a village in Tamale, Ghana. The money necessary to establish these water businesses is all done through fundraising, and as a fellow I am responsible for fundraising a portion of that. Therefore, by helping fund me you are donating to CWS you get to help pay for the capital cost for the water buisnesses we establish in Ghana. I would greatly appreciate your help in my fundraising, every donation or grant makes a difference.
