BENEFITING: GMIN ORGANIZATION INC
EVENT DATE: May 16, 2015
On April 25th a 7.8 earthquake devastated Nepal which has killed more than 7,000 people and injured more than twice as many. There are still many towns and villages that have not received aid. There are millions more that have had their homes destroyed.
Grassroots Movement In Nepal (GMIN) is a charity that builds schools in underprivileged areas in Nepal. They have people on the ground right now helping to get aid to the people in need.
Please help me in supporting this wonderful charity. They need all the support they can get! Any amount you can spare large or small may save a life and will make a huge difference in rebuilding the lives of people in Nepal.
On Saturday May 16th I will be cycling 50miles from San Clemente to Oceanside and back to raise money for GMIN! I will be personally donating $100 and I am cycling in order to raise awareness and money to help this fantastic charity support on the ground in Nepal. If you are interested in joining me and are up for the challenge please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org (min requirements: must have cycled at least 30miles in one session before, have a road bike and be comfortable with self in full lycra :) )
My goal is to raise $2000, so anything you can spare no matter how small will help make a difference! In the fine words of the Great Winston Churchill “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
Thank you for your support and generosity!
Latest from the charity:
GMIN members collaborated with Kesang Sherpa of Thali to support two vilalges east of Sankhu. We surveyed two villages called Khuriya and Khuryal. There were about 80 house in total and not a single on is safe to live in. All the houses are made of mud bricks and mud and two storied. There was no reported death here. It is about 10 minutes walk from the closest road and about 30 minutes to the farthest house. They ad not received any support from anyone but had gone to Sankhu as they said that Red Cross ad the Nepal army was distributing Relief items and they did not get anything. Sankhu has suffered a big loss in terms of damage done to buildings and also we were told that 100 people died and that many more were buried. We distributed 15 Plastic tarps which is all Kesang Sherpa was able to get, we distributed torch light to every house and some snacks. The plastic mats could not fit in the car and jeep brought by the volunteers. So plastic mats will be distributed tomorrow. Vilage Khuriya had about 36 families with about 145 people and the second village had bout 50 families with about 230 people. We will be going to Sindupalchowk too
GMIN is a 501 (C) 3 registered nonprofit organization which supports and initiates Grassroot movement focused on bringing sustainable social
