BENEFITING: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
ORGANIZER: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
I've been a physical therapist (PT) for almost 11 years and during most of this time I have had the opportunity to work with people with different types of pulmonary diseases. I love lungs, I really do! One disease that has had a significant impact on me is cystic fibrosis (CF). I exercise and perform chest PT with these individuals as they go in and out (and in and out again) of the hospital over the years. And while none of them enjoys being in the hospital so often, it has allowed me to form a unique bond that is part time patient/PT but often more like a friend, family and coach. I have seen them as their disease progresses; I have seen many of them be brave enough to go through with a lung transplant. And this year in particular, I have seen too many lose their battle with this progressive disease.
I'll be running the 2017 NYC marathon in honor of my CF family: to those who fought to breathe and to those who are still fighting to breathe.
I'll run 26.2 miles if you support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment, and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care.
We Are Adding Tomorrows.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. We fund more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support.
