I work for Somerville Homeless Coalition and I am running the annual 5K. In an interest to raise more money for the coalition, I am also fundraising for the run. SHC is an organization (non-profit) that helps to prevent homelessness, helps the homeless into affordable housing, gives funds to pay rental/utility arrearages. We also run two shelters, one family and one adult, as well as 2 food pantries and hold a community meal every Monday. We also run a program for youth (18-24) coming out of rehab programs. They are put up in apartments, receive case management from our wonderful Supportive Services team, attend weekly groups at our office. As you may imagine, all of this costs money. Some is received from grants, but most is received through donations. I kindly ask that you consider donating to this worthy cause. Thank you....
