Dad's battle with cancer,m myxoid liposarcoma
Organized by: Shelly Bartlett
Amos Bartlett My husband and father to four boys has been fighting cancer since finding a lump in November, 2015. He was diagnosed with a rare cancer called myxoid liposarcma. The tumor was 15cm and is a high grade, fast growing cancer. They believe he is in stage III, but will know for sure afte removal and testing. Amos has completed 4 cycles of chemotherapy, in the hospital five days at a time, with a drip of ifosfate and doxorubicin. He then received 15 treatments of radiation. Now is time for removal of the tumor. They don't expect him to heal for about 6 months or longer, because of would healing may be delayed from treatment chemo and radiation. We haven't let cancer gets our spirits down. We have a strong Christian faith, and our love for one another has only grown. We have gone through it with him, by his side. We have a strong family and so many people who love us enough to remember my husband in their prayers. His treatment has been hard. He got very sick a few times and we thought he may not make it, but he always pulled through and came back strong. We live in Wasilla, Alaska, but most of my husband's treatment and docs are in Seattle at the Seattle Sarcoma Alliance Center. Our boys are so strong for us. Ages 9, 12, 13, and 14. They keep us going when it gets tough. They keep us laughing through the worst of it. They constantly remind us why their father is fighting so hard, for more time. We are worried about life after surgery. He is a painter. He climbs ladders and works This will. I have my own cleaning business, but we find ourselves falling behind still. If you can help we would greatly appreciate it. We would also like to ask or prayers for my husband and my boys father to heal quickly and be cancer free thereafter. . This will be a year to remember for our family but we will be happy to have it in our past, for sure.
