BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
Dear Family & Friends...
As you may be aware, DAD'S FRESH AIR FUND was established in 2014 to celebrate his life, love of family and friends, spirit of voluteerism and adoration of the outdoors. From the beginning, the FUND MISSION has been to RUN for Dad to keep his memory alive and as fresh in our minds as he will always be in our hearts...and to raise awareness and support for important causes with each event.
This year we also run in memory of my Godmother, our Aunt Carol.
100% of this 2017 fundraiser will go to the American Cancer Society in her name.
As my cousin Kevin wrote of his Mom... "She defined the word matriarch. She led our family in good times and bad. Mom was extremely intelligent, insightful and wise. She was never afraid to get in your face and challenge you to be better than you ever thought you could be. We are grateful for what she has imparted to all of us and are committed to pass along as much as we can to the next generation."
Love, Commitment, Leadership and Giving to others are tent-poles for which this FUND stands. I am proud to run in Aunt Carol's memory!
Next Saturday, June 3rd, with a team of maniacs we like to call Mudd Sweat & Beers, we will hit the mountain in Tuxedo, run up and down the trails, crawl under barbed wire through the mud, be challenged by 15-20 obstacles, do a bunch of burpees and finish strong for American Cancer Society!!
PLEASE JOIN US IN OUR EFFORTS to RAISE FUNDS this year!!
There are so many worthy causes out there. THANK YOU for considering this one!
With much love and friendship...
Patrick Grace Jr.
"DAD'S FRESH AIR FUND 2017" celebrates our Dad/Grandpa (Pat Grace Sr.)'s life, and love of giving back to others; by raising money for charity through participation in outdoor events! The FUND is just in its 4th year and with YOUR help we will hit the $13,000 mark in 2017!!! Over the years we have raised funds for American Lung Association and American Lung of the NE, United Hospice of Rockland and Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation.
Our Dad/Grandpa enjoyed a very active lifestyle right through his senior years... He died less than 3 weeks before his 77th Birthday in December2013 from pulmonary fibrosis, a horrific disease that attacks the lungs making it increasingly difficult to breathe. Dad loved golf and tennis, hiking and camping, swimming and skiing...pretty much anything you could do outside. He worked outdoors most of his life as an iron worker and rigger for Local 40 and donated many years working with hundreds of kids as a troop leader and Scoutmaster. He was also a singer and entertainer who with our Mom, created a cabaret group that continues to volunteer and stage shows at nursing homes throughout the Poconos!
His tremendous heart was matched by his genuine spirit...
My sister, brother and I learned by example...that every day is a gift; that we should make the best of each day...not just for ourselves but for those around us that we can affect in a positive way; which is why this run has the charity tied to it, to make something more of the race than just finishing it, to bring something greater to the race than competitive spirit; to make the event...SPECIAL. It's the way Dad looked at things, so this is our give-back in his memory! Since starting the fund in June 2014... we've experienced an unbelievable outpouring of love and support. Thank you!
PLEASE consider contributing again this year to our "Dad's Fresh Air Fund," 100% of which will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Any contribution $10 (minimum for site) and up will help this very worthy and reputable charity. If you would prefer to write a check for any amount, please email me. If the timing isn't good...no worries...I will run again. I will keep running for my Dad to keep his memory alive and as fresh in my mind as he will always be in my heart. Please just say a prayer; keep Dad in your thoughts!
