UPDATE: As Dad loved to sing, a donation was made from the proceeds of our annual NYC DAMGD Radio show 6/25. Dad was always very supportive of our band and attended the NY show last year with Mom...
Most of you know that I lost my Dad in December. He was a true gentleman, an amazing man who was so giving of himself. He set the example for me to live life with purpose and love those around me. His tremendous heart was matched by his genuine spirit. He was also a singer/ entertainer, and an athlete who loved the outdoors. Dad enjoyed a very active lifestyle right into his senior years.
In less than 3 months, my Dad was overcome by pulmonary fibrosis; but before he left, he continued to brighten everyone's world around him. Even in sickness we were absolutely charmed by his good nature and sense of humor right to the end. My Mom told me that everyone who knew him, loved him.
My Dad taught me, my sister and brother by example...that every day is a gift; that we should make the best of it...not just for ourselves but for those around us that we can affect in a positive way. It is with his years of volunteer work, many acts of kindness and charitable heart in mind, that I ask for your help...
I will be running the Spartan Sprint on June 1st in Tuxedo Ridge with a group of guys... Team name? Blood, Sweat and Beers!! We all have our reasons for taking on these physical challenges. I will be running for my Dad. I ask that you consider a small contribution to my newly created "Fresh Air Fund," 100% of which will benefit the American Lung Association. [there is also an optional fee that supports the organization behind this webpage that make this fundraising possible]
Any contribution, even $10 (minimum for site) will help this very worthy and reputable charity (American Lung) learn more about diseases like the one that killed my Dad. If the timing isn't good...no worries...I will run again. I will keep running for my Dad to keep his memory alive and as fresh in my mind as he will always be in my heart.
There are so may worthy causes out there. THANK YOU for considering this one!
With much love and friendship...

There's a quick video I pulled from Youtube at the end of the pics if you want to get a feel for the race. Should be pretty sick... Thanks again! PG
