Get Daisy to DC!
Organized by: Daisy Alvarado
Hi! I am Daisy Alvarado, a 13 year old 8th grade student attending PUC Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy. I live in a small city called San Fernando, that although is a beautiful place, it does not always offer excellent educational opportunities for students like me. This year our 8th grade class has the opportunity to discover Boston, New York, and Washington D.C.This is an awesome adventure I want to explore. As amazing as this opportunity sounds, I have not been able to fully fund my trip. I have received a partial scholarship due to my excellent grades and school involvement in leadership and extracurricular activities, but still need to fund the other half.
I currently serve as the student council president of my school and as captain of my soccer team. As president, I have arranged and hosted school dances, fundraised money by selling fruit cups and cup of noodles for new sports equipment, and created spirit weeks to create school culture. I am continuing to brainstorm every day to find more ways that I can make the school better. As captain of the girls soccer team last year, I encouraged my teammates to have good sportsmanship, and pushed them to accomplish more than we thought possible. Last year, I led the team to an undefeated season, ultimately winning the district championship. In addition to leading the girls soccer team to victory last year, I also led the girls volleyball team to three undefeated championships throughout my time at Nueva Esperanza.
My mom, a hard working single parent, tries her best to support my siblings and me. Unfortunately, even with all the work that we have done so far, we have not raised the money to fund my 8th grade D.C. Trip. Although we are currently selling jewelry and food to help pay off the balance for this trip, I still need your help in achieving this dream!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. This will mean the world to me and will be a life changing experience that I will never forget. No one in my family has ever been able to participate in a trip like this and I will have the biggest smile in the world knowing that I was the first to do so! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I do not want to miss, anything, and I mean anything, would help and be ever so appreciated! #GetDaisytoDC #PutASmileOnDaisy #MakeDreamsComeTrue #AchieveDaisysGoal
