Daisy's Battle Against Breast Cancer
Organized by: Carl Foreman
Hi everyone, I'm Carl, Daisy's husband. We are two people that have enjoyed life and each other. It hasn't always been easy but we've always managed. Life can sometimes deal you a hard hand and its up to you how to play it. Here's a little about us. We've been married for 32 years and have three wonderful children and two beautiful granddaughters. We haven't bought our own home yet, but that's ok. We only have one parent living now, Daisy's father. I lost my mother this pass March to cancer. That was very hard especially for Daisy because she was mom's caregiver. But as we say, life goes on and we did. It is hard now because our finances has been hit tremendously. My job is a medical transporter, which means I take people to their doctor's appointments. The pay was great until July 2016 when the company decided to change how they would pay us. It really hit the pocket hard. Imagine you've submitted your work for the week and its time to be paid. You are expecting to receive a pay of $1,100 and instead it's for only $490 and there's nothing that can be done about it. Your bills, promises you've made, plans you've made, all your obligation for that week is at a stand still. You do not have the funds to do what needs to be done. That's where we are at now. I didn't even mention the hospital bills that we have and what will follow from Daisy's battle with cancer. She has to stay home this week and however long because our insurance denied her the first injection of Neulasta. This injection tells her body to produce extra white-blood cells so she can fight off germs she may come in contact with. We do believe that she will receive her next injection. Since this is about Daisy, let me tell you her story. I will start form the point where she almost lost herself. December 18, 2013 Daisy was fired from her job of eight years as a bank teller for something she did not do. No questions were ask, no investigation was performed. She applied for other jobs with only a couple of bites. Let's face it, when you've been fired from a bank, what's the first thing people think. "You stole money". Daisy wrote a letter to the company saying how they had taken her good name. April, 2014 she received a call from the bank telling her that it was over turned and they had a position for her. She of course took the job, even though it was part-time. Daisy felt this was a way of getting her name back. Five months later she was laid off due to company cut backs. This came close to crushing Daisy. She couldn't believe what this company had put her through . Eight years of service, going to work sick so there's no slack, she would say " I gave them my all and look what I've gotten from them". The hurt turned into anger. She couldn't stand to see that bank anywhere. And it made her not want to work anymore. I knew I had to give her time and to be patient with her. I knew with God's help she would eventually come back to herself. And with God she slowly did. Here she is May 2016, a year and a half later and she's saying it's time for me to go back to work. She was excited about it and was planning for things in the future that she wanted to do. Then it hit, "breast cancer". On July 14, 2016 Daisy was diagnosed with aggressive negative 3 breast cancer. August 10, 2016 she's receives her first session of chemotherapy. She keeps repeating this is a dream, this can not be happening to me, I need someone to wake me up. But it was happening and it was very hard for me because I had just lost my mom to cancer four months earlier. Daisy is positive about her out come of cancer. Even though the doctors say she has a long road ahead of her, but her faith in God keeps her a float. Even with our finances crashing the way it has, she remains positive. She helps me to keep the faith. She is stronger than she thinks she is. Through it all she trust God to the end. Thank you for listening. Anyone who has or will make a monetary gift donation, we do appreciate your generosity to this cause. May God bless you.
