I'm super excited to let you know that I'm part of the Saving Pets Challenge, a fundraising campaign launched by Michelson Found Animals.
It all starts today, May 4th, and to give back they'll be donating over $115,000 to benefit animal welfare organizations dedicated to decreasing shelter pet euthanasia. The organization that raises the most during the Challenge will get a $50,000 donation to their cause. Second place gets $20,000, third gets $10,000, fourth gets $7500 and fifth place gets a $5000 donation. I'm ready to raise as much money as I can for Dallas Pets Alive so we can win the $50,000 grand prize donation. And, I really need your help to make it happen. The Saving Pets Challenge runs today through June 5th and even if DPA doesn't win a grand prize, we get to keep all donations raised!
This is money that DPA will use to cover necessary training, life saving heartworm treatments, and treating other sicknesses and injuries in otherwise happy & adoptable animals. It will help dogs like Lucy, who otherwise didn't stand a chance.
Lucy was picked up as a stray who had clearly been overbred, was hookworm, tapeworm, and heartworm positive. It's believed this sweet senior was also used as a bait dog as she was covered in cuts & many of her teeth were damaged or had been purposefully removed. Those who fight dogs often use more docile dogs as bait dogs to train their fighting dogs and pull their teeth so they can't fight back when they are attacked. She was bald on the whole bottom half of her body from flea dermatitis, had multiple masses removed, and many of her few remaining teeth needed removal as they were rotting. She was in such bad shape that her shelter paperwork actually states that she was to be euthanized as soon as her stray hold was up. Despite everything this poor girl endured she is sweet as can be and all she wanted was to love and be loved in return. Thanks to fosters & donors, we were able to pull her into our program and nurse her back to health.
Feel free to post this link on any social media &/or forward this via email along to anyone that might be interested in helping raise money to support those who cannot help themselves. As a non-profit organization every penny counts, so any contribution made will be greatly appreciated & put to good use! Please donate & help us save more lives like Lucy's!
