Hi, My name is Daniel Amponsah and I am a sophomore at Pacific Union College. I am a Biochemistry major, pre-med and this summer I have a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in Nicaragua helping others at Clinica Verde-A rural health clinic as well as schools and other NGO’s for two weeks in Boaco, Nicaragua. I will have the opportunity to Work at Clinica Verde: shadow patients to learn about their lifestyles and how it inﬂuences their health, give charlas (talks) in the waiting room, visit schools (elementary and high schools) to give charlas, interact with peer teens and work with partner NGO’s in the ﬁeld (AMOS / Peace Corps)
I will also be learning Technical Training: Basic Life Support Certiﬁcation, Vital Signs, Immunizations, Splinting, Suturing With help from St. Helena Hospital, Dr. Kim Lam (OB/GYN), Dr. Stephen Franzino (Orthopedic Surgeon), and Dr. Steve Herber (Plastic Surgreon).
