BENEFITING: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Oct 05, 2014
Today is MY birthday but, I'm thinking about you. WHY you ask?
This past year has been quite the rollercoaster.. and I want to enter my next year on a high note. How? I want to help. I want to help the feeling of helplessness that has effected myself (and many others) by raising funds and donating my time to cancer research.
I want to do this by donating directly this October to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
The people at Dana Farber have supported myself and my family in countless ways over the past year.
They held my hand as I went through own cancer diagnosis in January 2014 (melanoma - treated at Dana Farber - I'm tumor free now btw) to offering hope in June 2014 for mother's participation in a breast cancer clinical trial.
Through it all, the people (doctors, nurses, receptionists) have been phenomenal but, here's the thing.. not just to ME.. to everyone... and walking those halls, it really makes you reflect... I am not alone... many families and friends, brothers, mothers are effected by cancer... we're all connected.
Sunday October 5th, 2014 will be my 10th year participating in Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk in Boston. This year, I'll be sitting at a table from early in the morning, checking off registration forms. Greeting walkers. Friends of walkers. Children of Walkers. People Walking together. Connected in raising funds for Breast Cancer Research and to support women in early detection. That feeling of connection by participating in this event - supporting eachother.. is a very special thing.
Prior to that event, October being Breast Cancer Awareness month.. I aim to raise funds directly for the Breast Cancer Research Division at Dana Farber... and give to the institution that has given myself, and countless others the important feeling of hope & support not to mention the medical science that accompanies it.
Lastly, I care about you... yes you. I care about your mothers, fathers, family, friends effected by cancer.
Please donate. It's MY birthday but, my wish to help all of you in remembering those with cancer and supporting Dana Farber.
