BENEFITING: Romaniaone Inc
Hello friends & family! We'd love your help to provide traditional, handmande dance costumes and music equipment for 20 village children of Alma Vii (ages 8-13). Local village women will be hired to make and hand embroider the costumes. They custom tailor the clothing and even make the black apron fabric with a loom using traditional methods! The shoes are also handmade by a local artisan. Economic opportunities are very limited for the people in rural Romania and this is meaningful work. The children will also have an opportunity to earn money by performing for tourists who come to visit the recently restored fortified church. Your contribution will have a lasting impact on Alma Vii! Costumes will be stored in the Citadel.
Most of you know our family is moving to Romania in August to volunteer with the MET, a trust with a mission to protect the cultural heritage of Saxon villages in Transylvania. The Trust has a whole village approach and looks to provide economic and personal advancement opportunities. They let us know about this opportunity to help when we asked for a way to help the children of Alma Vii. Alma Vii is a small Saxon village in Transylvania, Romania with beautifully intact homes, artfully crafted over 600 years ago by Saxons sent to defend the edge of the Hungarian empire. Donations are tax deductible through the RomanianOne Foundation which will forward to MET. Thanks so much for your support! To learn more visit: http://www.mihaieminescutrust.org/
