Dan Farrell, a resident of Rutherford, NJ, passed away at age 24. He was a friend to many and an all-around great person. Dan's smile could light up a room and was infamous for telling the best stories and having dance moves that anyone would be jealous of.
When I heard about the passing of Dan, my heart broke. I may have not been super close with Dan, but I enjoyed being around him whenever I would run into him, and I knew I needed to take action because something tragic like this happens, it makes you realize how important and lucky you are, and how you CAN make a difference.
My immediate reaction in this case was remembering this quote I heard, "The only cure for grief is action." - George Henry Lewes
This is my action and pledge: to raise awareness and start a fundraiser remembering Dan, for the great light he had within and to raise a voice in mental health advocacy.
All donations set up on this page will go directly to The Amercian Foundation for Suicide Prevention to honor Dan, and to help others who are impacted by mental illness and suicide.
About the AFSP: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.
Thank you for your support.
