Hey, I just wanted to say T…
Hey,

I just wanted to say THANK YOU. Because of you, I was able to not only reach my goal, but actually soar past it, already raising more than $5300. Over 120 of my family and friends donated to benefit the YMCA and I can't begin to explain what it means to me.

Below I'm going to give you some race day logistics incase you're interested in keeping up with my progress:

I also wanted to take the opportunity to provide you with information about the marathon if you're going to be there or cheering me on from home. If you want to track me, you can either type my name/bib # into baa.org on race day. My bib is 34852 (if you look for me on the website, the BAA lists me as residing in Brighton, not Hanover, because I wanted things mailed to my school address, FYI). You can also get free text alerts by texting my bib number to 345678. You will get an update when I cross 10k, half, 30k, and the finish line.

My wave is expected to take off at 11:25, so depending how long it takes for me to cross the starting line, expect the first update around 12:30.

If you plan on being along the course on race day, please relay that message to me somehow before I start. It would mean a lot to me if I see you when I'm running - words can't explain how uplifting that can be after running for several hours.

One last cool thing is that I was featured in CBS Boston spot explaining why I'm running, and have the opportunity to do a finish line/exit interview with CBS! There's no guarantee, but if you have the opportunity to, stay tuned to channel 4, CBS, between 330-4 (or after you see the update that I crossed the finish line).

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I've pretty much made this my life at this point so I would be more than happy to talk to you about it :)

Thank you again for helping me accomplish this once in a lifetime opportunity.

P.S. Don't forget that your donation was tax deductible! You should have gotten an email from crowdrise with a tax receipt!

CROWDRISING SINCE: Jan 28, 2014
Stuff About Me:

My name is Dan Ahern. I'm from Hanover, Massachusetts and I am currently a Junior at Boston College. I am also running the 2014 Boston Marathon!

The Boston Marathon will be my second marathon, having ran the Baystate Marathon in Lowell, MA in October 2013.

I am running the Boston Marathon to support the South Shore YMCA. The SSYMCA gives away over $2 million annually in financial assistance and I am proud to help their efforts. I have been an employee of the YMCA since 2009 and have been engaged/impacted by the YMCA for almost my entire life. After being a member, a volunteer and an employee, I am now honored to benefit the YMCA even more to the best of my ability.
