BENEFITING: AMERICAN RUNNING ASSOCIATION
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
Dear Friends and Family—
This April 15th, I will be running the 117th Boston Marathon with my dear friend Lili Pike. In the first week of freshman year on our outdoor orientation trip, Lili and I jokingly made a pact that we would run the Boston Marathon together during our time at Harvard. Incredibly, we have stuck to our word, and after successfully completing a half marathon this past spring, we decided to make a bid at running Boston. Lili and I will be running as members of the Harvard College Marathon Challenge, which receives marathon numbers through the American Medical Athletic Association (AMAA). This organization helps combat obesity by providing doctors with the resources and assistance they need to educate their patients about the importance of exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. AMAA provides continuing education regarding training, diet, injury prevention, and sports medicine—all topics that, as a runner, I have come to learn are incredibly important. Any donation would help me reach my fundraising goal of $2,500.
Thank you so much for your support—it means so much to me! After watching both of my parents run multiple marathons, it has always been a goal of mine to run a marathon myself someday. I cannot wait for April 15th to roll around, but first I need to get through all my training runs and this frigid Boston winter! I hope to see you all along the Boston Marathon course come April 15th.
Thanks again—you all are the best!
Lots of love,
