BENEFITING: THE IM ABLE FOUNDATION
Growing up in California riding bikes was a way of life! My brother and I would ride for hours. After moving to PA at 17, I started to enjoy the mountain biking scene. I’ll never forget the GIANT ATX760 my parents got me for my graduation. For my 30th birthday, my wife had a surprise party and people donated towards a new mountain bike. I was blessed enough be able to by a new mountain bike and was thoroughly enjoying it. Less than three years later, in October 2008, I suffered a L1 burst fracture in my lower back. I spent 3 months out of work in a brace and 7 months in therapy. The “ride” since then has not been on a bike, but managing lower back pain to some degree on a daily basis. This past February I signed up for the IM Able Foundation Sprint Triathlon "Got The Nerve”? knowing training would not eliminate but actually increase my pain. All along I’ve been hopeful that something good could come out of this. I realized after 10 weeks of training and some additional research on the IM Able Foundation that my season of pain can produce a positive purpose. That purpose is to raise enough funds to provide a specialized bike for someone who is facing a far greater challenge than me. Please click the link if you would like to make a contribution.
