BENEFITING: SLAMT1D INC
EVENT DATE: Dec 10, 2016
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a lethal, life-altering autoimmune disease for which there is currently no cure. 40,000 people are diagnosed with T1D each year in the US alone, many children. T1D requires dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life, 24/7/365 management and carries the constant threat of devastating complications, even death. SLAMT1D WIFFLE Ball tournaments provide awareness about this oft-misunderstood disease. We raise funds for children to attend camps that provide vital T1D-management skills and help build a camper’s confidence to manage their disease on their own.
SLAMT1D’s 3rd Annual Sam Fuld Classic WIFFLE Ball supports SLAMT1D, Inc. camperships and camp funding for Sam Fuld’s USF Sports Diabetes Camp and the Florida Diabetes Camp Organization, Inc.
