I am joining a team of 77 runners representing the 77 wonderful girls of the Daraja Academy. I will be sponsoring a girl that will be simultaneously running in Kenya as I participate in the Bay to Breakers.  The Daraja Academy is the first free all-girls school in Eastern Africa.

All proceeds will go directly to Florence Ekai. Florence is from the Turkana tribe. Florence lives with her father, mother, four brothers, three sisters, and her sister's four children. Due to a lack of funds, only one of her sister's is education up to 8th grade. The drop rate from elementary school to high school is 80%. Florence's life path was set to make her another statistic.

Florence now attends the Daraja Academy. She is now the first of her family to attend secondary school...a twist in her fate that will not only change the course of her future, but that of her siblings and future children.
