Darina goes to college
Organized by: Darina Herrera
I have made it my personal goal to impact the Dominican Republic and specially my hometown. While wondering what I could do or how to use my talents to accomplish my goal, I noticed the lack of help and people willing to help students with special needs, here in the Dominican Republic. I myself know what it is like to struggle in classes, because I get easily distracted. There are many cases were kids do not get the education they deserve because the school does not have the equipment to provide them with the education they need. From my point of view every kid has the right to education. I want to help fill the void of special education specialized teachers in the Dominican Republic. I want to help those kids with special needs get the education they deserve. In order for me to be able to fill this void, I recognize that I need to further my education after graduating high school. I would have to attend college. I believe that going to college will not only prepare and equip me to realize my dream, but it will also provide me with experience. From what I have heard college is a great time to explore and know more about yourself and who you are. It is a place to grow spiritually. College is also known to make people become improve their matureness. In college I would be able to become more independent and responsible. Because college can be very influential in my development as a human being, I would like to go to a Christian college. I believe that it is wise to surround myself with a healthy, God-centered environment; since I want to grow more in His ways and do His will.
