Katie Daley wrote -Laura Josie Weber, my hero and baby cousin, passed away suddenly at the young age of 19. She was an Ohio State Nursing student, beyond excited to save lives and help those in need. She was humble, kind, and amazingly beautiful, with extraordinary spirit and purity. Laura had amazing friends and a boyfriend with whom their lives were planned perfectly. In January of 2017, a stroke, through causes unknown, plummeted Laura into a coma, until neurologists fatefully pronounced her braindead four days later. My aunt and uncle courageously made the decision on January 20th to accept her passing and proceed with Lifeline of Ohio to grant Laura's hopes and dreams of saving lives. My baby cousin- my hero- saved four lives with her kidneys, liver, and heart. She gave the gift of sight and other tissues, as well. I'm so proud of my family for making the difficult decision they did, though my Aunt humbly tells me, "it is what Laura would have wanted." Her life and spirit live on through others, and though that is so very hard to accept, Lifeline of Ohio and Donate Life made possible Laura's deepest virtue even after she joined the stars--Be kind. Be good. Give to others. In May, the month of Laura's 21st birthday, I will be running a half marathon. I'm raising money in Laura's honor until then for Lifeline of Ohio. Please, support my cause so other families, of heroes and recipients, can find comfort through virtue.
