We at Dater Montessori elementary school have taken a stance on fighting childhood obesity. We are vigilantly educating our youth on the health benefits of eating fruits and veggies. Our motto is "eating fresh foods that don't come from a bag, box or drive-thru!" Most recently we had our youngsters out for salad day where they picked their own kale, lettuce, peas, cilantro etc. They also cleaned and cut their salad snack into bite sized pieces. It always warms our hearts when they ask for seconds! Families are encouraged to come out to the garden to pick their own fresh produce. Excess harvests are then offered at a "farmer's market" for parents. If their are still leftovers, they are then taken to a local free grocery co-op. Lettuce eat well! Thank you for your interest in our cause!! Help us, help this generation to know how to grow healthy foods to incorporate into their family meals!
