(2 of 2)

Despite the excitement and gratification of finishing my first marathon the joy I felt from seeing my friends and family throughout the course was the highlight of the day. It is amazing what a high five or a smile on someone's face can do for your mindset. If someone you know ever runs in a marathon and you can make it out to watch them DO IT! It can be a difference maker. For those of you who could not make it, but kept me in your thoughts or sent text messages, tracked me on-line, or watched on Facebook I cannot thank you enough. I could feel you there in spirit!

When I was not able to see familiar faces the race was much harder. Those were the times during the race when I felt like walking or slowing down the most. Whenever those thoughts would creep into my mind I would to myself and sometimes out loud "This race is about the kids, my team, $5000, and our effort to bring awareness to Soccer in the Streets. You can quit if you want to, but NOT TODAY!" Together we were able to raise $5407, surpassing the $5000 goal I set. This was the most important goal of them all and I cannot thank you enough for helping me to achieve it.

This was without a doubt a life changing experience for me. I started out as 1 guy trying to run a marathon and because of you the circle grew and I became part of a team. We all did something amazing yesterday and I am so thankful for the memories. Who knows I may even run another one. I also learned that it is worth it to “give back to something.” If you are someone who likes to give back on a regular basis please consider continuing to give to Soccer in the Streets. They are a fantastic organization that can always use help.

Thank you for your support and generosity. I could not have done it without you. It was awesome being part of this team.

Hello Team! Well, the marath…
Hello Team!
Well, the marathon has come and gone and I am still alive. Here is how I did out of 45000 participants.

Start Time 08:15:02

Place Gender 7367
Place Age Group 1373
Place Overall 9837

Finish Time 03:54:26

Finish 12:09:28AM 03:54:26 10:28 07:41 7.82

I had a few goals for this marathon. Number 1 was to finish so I could cross it off my bucket list. Number 2 was to finish in under 4 hours. Number 3 was to run my last 2 miles faster than the pace I had for the rest of the race. This last one was to replicate the last few minutes of a soccer game. I tell all my players that the effort put forth at the end of the game can change the outcome and I feel like it did the same for my marathon.

Hello Donors, Friends, Famil…
Hello Donors, Friends, Family, Colleagues, and Acquaintances,

I wanted to take some time to update you on my marathon run for Soccer in the Streets, but before I get to that I would like to say thank you. Every time a donation is made I receive an email. These emails have been the highlight of my day over the last few months. They are like a present because I never know who or what was donated until the email is open. Thanks for bringing a little unexpectedness into my day.

The running has been getting easier. My longest run to date (in my entire life!) is 7 miles and I am doing this at an 8:30 pace. In total I have deliberately ran 207 miles and am about to step my training up to 23-30 miles per week for the next month. My Ipod mini has become my new favorite toy and if anyone has song recommendations please shoot them my way. I don't care what anyone says, RUNNING CAN BE VERY BORING.

All in all we have raised $1204. This puts us 24% of the way to the $5000 goal. I am amazed and humbled by all of your giving and support. However, there is still 76% to go and I need help! Forwarded emails, tweets, status updates, donations, cooler talk, bake sales, loose change, and/or anything else is appreciated. All efforts are in support of Soccer in the Streets, a great organization that needs all the help it can get. If you haven't had a chance please visit www.soccerinthestreets.org to learn more.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and wish that your giving comes back to you in a wonderful way.

All the best,
Chris
