It has been a goal of mine to run the NYC Marathon for a number of years, and this is the year! I've been training for the last several months and am very excited to be running in less than 2 weeks. But as I was training, I realized that I wanted to do it for a cause but decided to wait to ensure I was able to run the marathon before reaching out to everyone.
I chose Operation Gratitude, which provides care packages to soldiers overseas, including those in active duty and veterans. Both of my grandfathers served during WWII - one as Marine pilot, and one as Army recon - and I hope my grandmothers sent packages and letters to them. Each package costs Operation Gratitude $15 to assemble, so let's send hope and a little happiness to as many soldiers as we can.
