This is the 3rd consecutive year that ROMAN Cycling is participating in Bike the Blizzard to support Back Alley Bikes and its youth programs. In 2015 we had 4 members ride ~100 miles and raise $1080. In 2016, we had 5 members ride over 190 miles and raise $1165. Our goal this year is to get at least 6 riders to participate and to ride >250 miles and raise >$2000. Please consider sponsoring our ride and more importantly Back Alley Bikes and the youth they serve and support in Detroit. More about the event below...
This year will be the 5th annual Back Alley bike-a-thon event, Bike the Blizzard. This year we're hoping to raise 15k (not far from the high water mark we hit in previous years, ending at 14k total). All proceeds go to our general operating expenses.
This event will allow Back Alley Bikes to stay open year round to provide quality education classes and distribute bikes to children in Detroit. This event, as in years past, is a 24-hour ride-your-legs off endeavor. Riders will raise as much as they can and ride as much as they can. Riders can register, raise, and ride as individuals, or in teams.
This year the prize structure will work as such: The rider/team to raise the most the week before the event will win a special prize. Other prizes will be calculated after the ride and will go to: the top rider and team that rides the farthest and the top rider and team that raise the most money. Donations are due the week after the event, but you are welcome to turn them in earlier. All riders will be offered a cycling computer, ride bib, and poster.
