I ran 26.2 miles (43kilometers) in the 2013 NYC Marathon! Please support my efforts by donating a dollar per mile, or kilometer, to Lotus Music & Dance.
Why I run?
Shortly before my 40th birthday some dear friends - all tri-athletes - strongly suggested it was time to make serious lifestyle changes. As it happened, it was also the 40th running of the New York City marathon. It seemed serendipitous. So, with only four months to race time, I started a radical training regime with my Pointlogic colleague Peter Kloprogge. With his help and encouragement (thanks Peter), I grew to love the sport and have since run dozens of half marathons and eight full marathons in four years! I am proud to say that most of my full marathons were run to raise money for charity, and in past four years I've raised about $12,000 for the Red Cross, Colon Cancer Foundation, AACD and a various other charities. While I run as part of a lifestyle change, my friends and family have stood by me by supporting outstanding charity organizations.
For more than two decades Lotus has been promoting cultural understanding by connecting young people through the art and music of vastly different world cultures. Lotus provides a common and safe ground for bringing people together and help to neutralize the destructive and divicive messages in the media and world around us. Lotus does helps cultures survive and thrive in a changing world through multi-cultural music and dance classes and performances, and much-needed arts and cultural education in public schools. We badly need organizations like Lotus and I wish there were hundreds more! I've been a supporter and member of the board of more than 20 years. This year, I am running the 2013 NYC Marathon to help Lotus gear up for their 25th anniversary. If you feel as I do, help Lotus continue to bring young people together through arts and education and help Lotus encourage cultural understanding. All it takes is a small tax deductable donation to join me in supporting Lotus as I run my 9th career marathon in NYC on November 3rd.
The Fine Print
No catch, really! Lotus welcomes donations of all sizes, and all contributions are tax deductible.
