David's Medical expenses
Organized by: David Norberg
Help needed with David's medical bills and Roxie and David's household expenses after unexplained illness. On August 25th, 2015 David Norberg went home sick with a 100 degree temp. After 2 days not being able to shake the fever he went to the urgent care clinic. After doing some tests they told him it was just a virus and to go home and it will get better. On Saturday August 29th he went to the ER they said the same thing but did a flu test which came up negative. On Tuesday September 1st he went to his regular doctor and was able to see the PA. She did some tests and said there was something else wrong and he needed to go to the ER right away. In the ER they put him in isolation thinking he had meningitis. After doing more tests 2 days later they found abnormalities in his spinal fluid. The doctors needed 2 spinal taps and a bone marrow sample before they told him that he had a very rare form of cancer called CNS Lymphoma “T” cell. After a week in the hospital his legs did not work very well the nerves in his back were swollen and the signals from his brain were not getting through, they sent him home with a walker and sent him to see a specialist in Portland. When the oncologist presented his case to the cancer board they said because of the rarity they wanted more tests done to make sure. 4 Spinal taps later they still don’t know what is wrong. As of today, they still have not ruled out cancer. David's neurologist told him that after 2 years they can say this is will be permanent but since they don’t know the cause they can’t say how long he will be like this. As of now he can walk with a cane for about 20 min. before his legs just give out and every once and a while his legs just refuse to move and he has to concentrate on walking again. David lost his secondary insurance at the end of June. On September 1st he will have been out of his job for a year and they are going to have to let him go. We have been squeaking by for the last year and things are not getting better. In the last year the medical bills were over $60000 with primary and secondary insurance we were fortunate most of the bills were taken care of. David is on long term disability which is only 60% of his regular pay. David have been denied for Social Security disability 3 times now and is on a list for a hearing which we were told will be in about 15 months. We appreciate any help and Thank every one who has helped in the past and helps in the future.
