Chipotle (NW 13th) Fundraiser 10/24/16
October 23, 2016
BENEFITING: DAYS FOR GIRLS INTERNATIONAL
ORGANIZER: DAYS FOR GIRLS INTERNATIONAL
Our Alachua County Team "soon to be Chapter" is busy with fundraisers, sewing, and travels.
We had an amazing sewathon on Saturday at the Southwest United Methodist Church in Gainesville. In spite of everyone recovering from Hurricane Matthew, 35 very focused and hard-working people showed up and we were extremely productive. We now have 35 kits ready to go and hundreds of components in the works.
Next is our October 20 fundraiser at Skate Station and then 10/24 fundraiser at Chipotle on NW 13th Street and 23rd Avenue. We also added a quality sewing training for experienced sewers to perfect shield-making. Call if you are interested in attending.
It looks like we will have a combined November/December chapter meeting on 12/12/16 4th Monday in each month is in conflict with holidays and my trip to Malawi. Details will be forthcoming.
I am so appreciative of everyone's generous donations! What goes into a kit costs about $10 but since we get a lot of items donated, we probably only spend about $2 to make each one. So your monetary donations will go a long way!!
So THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support!
(older post) We have a Quality Sewing Training Day on 9/17 (Alachua Library), meeting on 9/26, a sewathon in Gainesville on 10/8, a Skate Station Fundraiser on 10/20, and a Chipotle fundraiser (NW 13th St at 23rd Ave) on 10/24. We have a Jamberry Nails fundraiser going on through September 30th. We are in the process of arranging suport for two DFG Enterprises in Kenya and another in South Sudan. We plan to go to Nepal next summer. Radha is going to Malawi for Thanksgiving to set up a DFG Enterprise with the Ministry of Hope out of Arizona. Our trip to Kenya last year was a great success and just inspired us to do more.
This is a super active chapter and we welcome everyone to help in whatever ways they can! Dollean Perkins and Radha Selvester are the Chapter Chairs, and also troop leaders of Girl Scout Troop 733 that started this Days for Girls Chapter. Please contribute to our Chapter so we can continue to help more and more girls all over the world. And contact us to get added to our email list and more involved in our activities! Getting Our Glow On, for Girls Around the World
Days for Girls (DfG) earns back days of education and opportunity to over 300,000 women and girls in over 100 countries, through providing access to sustainable feminine hygiene solutions. When millions of women and girls are missing 5 days every month, having something that lasts and works in many different settings really makes a difference.
This year we're supporting girls across the world through Flow and Glow classes. Flow and Glow is your favorite fitness class, but in the dark, with glow sticks, glow paint, and black lights. For more information on how this works, click here, or watch our video to the left to see how you can hold a Flow and Glow event in your area.
Not into getting your glow on? No sweat. We'd be thrilled to have you on the team. By making a contribution today, you can create the following impact:
$10 supports one girl for 2-4 years
$50 supports transportation to training for one woman to learn how to launch her own DfG Kit business
$100 gets 75 Kits to a new country
$250 supports Kits for an entire classroom
$500 supports a new organization to launch a sewing business
