THE STORY:

Diane Griffin wrote -

Join us as we celebrate Washington, DC history! From the architecture of the Franciscan Monastery to the soul stirring music of DC natives Billy Stewart and Van McCoy, this year's group of DC Community Heritage  Project grantees are offering a unique and eclectic look at the city's past. Find out about the historical development of neighborhoods like Bloomingdale and River Terrace. Hear how young people are engaging with Washington's past in new and exciting ways. Learn how you and your neighbors can receive support for similar projects. Other neighborhoods or communities explored through this year's DCCHP grant include: Hillsdale, Barracks Row, Upper 16th Street, NW, Columbia Heights, H Street, NE, Douglass/Fort Stanton, the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church. The program will include representatives from the 42nd Annual DC Historical Studies Conference which will be held from November 12-15. This FREE evening program includes dinner, but RSVPs are required. We hope to see you there!
