2017 Mission to Hungary
Organized by: Dcn. Steve Thomashefski
I’m an ordained Catholic deacon of the Diocese of Lansing, Michigan, whose passion and mission is proclaiming the Gospel ~ thanks for visiting this fundraising site.
Please prayerfully consider making a contribution to our mission work in Hungary. You can help be a part of making a difference in the lives of the young people who are yearning to find meaning and purpose to their lives.
Our typical budget (for two) includes:
- Airfare ~ $3,000
- Rent ~ $2,500
- Food ~ $1,000
- Car and gas ~ $1,500
- Mission events ~ $3,000
- Leader support ~ $1,000
My first mission was in 1991 to Moscow, Russia during the unravelling of Communism and the free election of Boris Yeltsin as President of Russia. The following year I was invited by Peter Herbeck, vice president of missions for Renewal Ministries, to join him in an exploratory trip to Lithuania. Since those early days I have served with Renewal Ministries in the countries of Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Romania, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, Croatia, Ukraine and Sudan.
About 19 years ago I began focusing on the countries of Romania and Hungary. In 2010, after our six children were mostly grown and out of the house, Lucia, my wife of 44 years, began spending two to four summer months with me in Hungary.
We speak and pray at various events, parishes and Dioceses throughout the country. We are quite fond of the Lelkes Napok Camps (sponsered by the Hungarian Catholic Charismatic Renewal) where we work with young people helping them to encounter Christ within the Catholic Church . . .
Please pray for our mission and make a contribution if possible.
