Deaf Yoga Day is a day dedicated to celebrating and supporting Deaf yogis in the journey to gain equal access to Yoga. There are some 28 million Deaf and Hard of Hearing community members in the U.S. and less than 30 yoga teachers fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), making access to asana classes, workshops, training courses and conferences few and far in between.
This year’s third annual Deaf Yoga Day is a day all yogis, regardless of language and culture, stand together in support of equal rights for Deaf Yogis around the world. Yoga means “union” and it seems only fitting to celebrate this unifying practice that is just beginning to impact the Deaf community and its members.
Can you imagine a life without yoga?
Neither can we... and that’s exactly why we created Deaf Yoga Day! :)
This year we hope to raise at least $20,000.
Please help us reach our goal by donating, creating your own fundraising page and sharing it with your friends, or placing a donation basket in your yoga class or studio.
