Bennie was raised by her mother in one of the worst slums in Kenya. Bennie was in and out of primary school as her mother continually struggled to pay school fees. When Bennie did manage to stay in school for a period of time, she played rugby and soccer. She was especially gifted in rugby and even managed to receive a scholarship to play on the rugby team.
Bennie has a refreshingly straight-forward and honest personality. This can be greatly attributed to her inner confidence and comfort with herself. She manages to stay away from the gossip that consumes many girls her age. She loves to dance, perform in plays, and play on the Daraja soccer team.
Bennie is determined to go to university in San Francisco. She then hopes to return to Kenya to help break the mentality in her community that young women should get married instead of finishing school. She also plans to build her mother a great big house to replace the single room they currently live in.
