Debbie's Cancer Battle
Organized by: Friends Of Debbie
March 24, 2016
Diagnosed in 2014 with breast cancer, Debbie has valiantly fought this battle with fierce determination and faith. Over 600 miles away from her family and getting this devistating news only four months after the completion of her divorce, the impact on finances has been disasterous.
This fundraiser has been set up to assist in paying the day to day bills that continue to add up for Debbie as she battles cancer. Although she was able to return to work part time as a substitute paraprofessional in November, she must again stop take more time off now for more surgeries.
March 14 she will again leave Thief River Falls and head to Rochester, MN for another surgery that will keep her away from home for about two weeks. This surgery and the followup and subsequent procedures will keep her out of work for some time.
The costs related to staying in Rochester after the surgery for follow up a week after her hospital discharge are also not covered.
After she is cleared from this surgery, she will have at least two more procedures within the next year. Once cleared from all the surgeries, Debbie will be continuing to make trips to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN (386 miles away) every three months minimum for the next three years. She will then switch to twice a year for the following 5 years.
As you can see, cancer will continue to be a significant burden to this young family. She will continue to take oral medications for the next ten years. The physical and emotional toll of cancer and its treatments will be with her for some time yet.
As her friends, it is our goal to ease the financial burden so she can focus on getting better now instead of worrying about money. I know she hopes to be healed up enough to go to work full time in the fall, it would be my dream that we help her through until that time.
Even if you are unable to donate at this time, please share your prayers and encouragement.
We ask that you also share this fundraiser on your solcial media sites. We would love this to go viral for her as she deserves to have this burden lifted.
